VIVA's next event, the last in the summer series, features THE GUADALAJARA WIND CONSORT, a wind quintet whose program will include the Beethoven Quintet in E flat and a medley of shorter lighter works by composers such as Jacques Ibert and Raymond Smith.  The concert will take place on Sunday October 12th at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Riberas, at 4.00 pm. This is going to be another wonderful intimate musical event!

M5 BRASS CONCERT:   Monday October 27

VIVA's final fall concert will feature 5 outstanding brass players from Morelia playing an eclectic concert ranging from Bach to jazz. Metales M5, Mexico's leading brass quintet, mixes the well-known with the unexpected, delighting audiences with baroque and contemporary music, opera, blues, pop, movie soundtracks and folk music from Spain, Mexico and other Latin American countries. Always fresh, funny and extraordinary, this concert is guaranteed to be among the most entertaining musical events to come to Lakeside this season. This concert will take place at the Auditorium on Monday, October 27th at 7.30 pm.  Hang on to your hats and be there!!  (Note that this concert is not included in your "Summer in the Village" Season pass)

We will be selling tickets to both these concerts at the LCS Tickets booth from Monday, October 6th to Saturday October 11th from 10.00 to 12.00 noon. Tickets are $250 for members and $280 for non members. You can also obtain them by calling me, Rosemary Keeling at 766-1801 to make arrangements to pick them up at my house.

BUS TRIPS TO THE SYMPHONY

¡VIVA! is offering bus trips to three fall concerts of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra. If you are interested you should respond as soon as possible to vivamusica3@yahoo.com or by calling Marshall Krantz at 766-2834. As usual, if we do not have 25 people signed up 2 weeks before the event we have to cancel that bus.

No. 2  Puccini Gala                                                      Friday, November 7 at 8.30 pm.

No. 3  I Pagliacci & Cavalleria Rusticana in concert      Friday, November 28 at 8.30 pm.
Tickets $250 members, $300 non-members.

As usual we shall dine, no host, at a fine restaurant in Guadalajara before these concerts.

CERVANTINO FESTIVAL BUS TRIP

There are still some seats available for this 6-day tour to the Festival Cervantino in Guanajuato, also visiting Queretero and Leon, leaving Saturday, October 18th and returning Friday, October 24th. Call me, Rosemary, at 766-1801 to reserve.

FUNDRAISER FOR NINOS INCAPACITADOS

On Monday, October 6, our dear friend Dolores Moreno will be singing with harpist Guadalupe Corona in the La Floresta Auditorium at 7.30 pm in a concert including well-known folk songs and works by Faure, Debussy, Prokofieff, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and Britten. This event is a fund raiser for Ninos Incapacitados. Tickets $150 at LCS Tickets booth this week.
