Piano and Four Voices, an evening of musical theatre!

Mark your calendars now for July 30

The next concert in Viva’s Summer Series will feature Jason Peterson, virtuoso pianist flying in from Virginia, Luis Rodriguez, baritone and previous scholarship recipient, David Small, baritone, opera singer and teacher and two sopranos from the Guadalajara Opera Workshop. They will delight us with a varied program of operatic arias, songs from Broadway, and Mexican favorites. Tickets are $200 pesos for members ($300 for non-members).

Tickets at LCS

Viva volunteers will be selling tickets July 23rd through 30th at the LCS ticket booth.

Season Ticket Extension

Season ticket prices for the four remaining concert series are $800 pesos for members ($1,000 for non-members). This is a real bargain so if you don’t have a season’s ticket, come early to assure good seats in the auditorium for this fantastic concert series! Individual tickets are $200 pesos for members ($300 for non-members) and for the September Opera concert $300 pesos for members ($400 pesos for non-members).

All concerts will take place in the auditorium on Thursdays at 7.30 p.m.

The three other concerts in our summer schedule:

  • August 27 Concert: The internationally recognized José White String Quartet.  The players are all principals in the Aguascalientes Symphony Orchestra.
  • September 10 Concert: A “first” for Lakeside music lovers: A full comic Opera “The Elixir of Love” by Donizetti conducted by Luis Rodriguez.  There will be a 50-person chorus in addition to four soloists, costuming and rear-projected backdrop and libretto.
  • October 8 Concert: Another romp with the Cuauhtemoc Garcia Jazz Flute combo.

Auditions for Viva Scholarships

On Sunday, August 9, 2009 we will hold auditions for scholarships for the coming academic year. Auditions are open to gifted music students who can bring letters of recommendation from teachers, good academic reports and show financial need. Please inform Rosemary Keeling (766-1801) of any student you feel might be interested.
